Abstract

Varicella infection usually passes without complications. However, about 2% of children who suffer from Varicella may experience complications, most often in the form of bacterial superinfection. Course and prognosis of the disease depend on the age of the child, localization and immune status. We present the case of a two-year-old boy who developed phlegmon of the neck as complication of Varicella infection.

Key words:

varicella, phlegmon, necrotizing fasciitis, neck region
